It is so exciting to see those temperatures rising, and the base layers no longer being required. After weeks of snow and sub-freezing weather, we’re finally seeing soccer operations getting back to normal…albeit with a few too many double and triple (and quadruple!) headers! Speaking of base layers, the word is now out about the club signing a new uniform deal with Nike. I want to take a moment of your time to expand on this and share what it means to Valor and our members.
Before I start, I’ll add a disclaimer. Some details will be left out of this communication. This is either for competitive/contractual reasons or because details are still being worked out (e.g. the price of uniforms for next year). For items that fall into the latter category, those details will be shared over the next few weeks as we head into Spring tryouts.
New Strategic Partners
Let’s start with a powerful statement. We do not have new uniform vendors. We have new strategic partners. When we shared our vision for creating Valor Soccer, the most immediate benefit was the total size increase of a singular club, with more members and players. The merger is already paying dividends with this agreement. Our new partners bought into the vision of Valor, and we secured partnerships that are much greater than the sum of our previous parts.
As I mentioned, this is not just a deal to define where we get our uniforms. Valor is now a partner with Nike. Our club can now outwardly market Nike as a strategic partner. There can be Nike logos on our website and advertising. There can be Nike logos at our fields. We have access to Nike’s creative content and advertising to use ourselves. Imagine Nike creating an amazing advertising campaign for the upcoming Women’s World Cup; we have the opportunity to use that content. But wait, this isn’t just about slapping the swoosh everywhere.
Being a partner with Nike means far more than marketing and logos, however. As a part of the Nike family, Valor will be invited to participate in Nike-exclusive tournaments and camps as well as US National Team, NWSL, and Global Nike events.
Most importantly, you’ll see the impact here locally. Valor will grow and thrive through the support that Nike will give us. When Valor hosts local tournaments and events, not only will you see that aforementioned Nike branding, but Nike will also help directly fund these events. We will have special offers to participate in programs such as Nike Grind which can help improve the playing surfaces at our fields. Nike is investing to ensure the future growth and health of Valor. This is not a level of support that Nike gives all clubs that wear Nike gear; it’s an elevated level of support given their faith in the future of Valor.
I know, I know – it’s all about the gear! We are working through the details with Nike on what our kits will look like for next season, but I can tell you they are top-of-the-line. Nike is pulling out all the stops for us. While the designs and pricing are still to come, a few notable items will be for everyone:
New Soccer.com Partner
Just as important as our Nike partnership, are our new partnerships with Soccer.com and SoccerWest. SoccerWest is our local company that we signed with to provide our uniform, kits, and gear. At the beginning of the year, Soccer West created a new partnership with Soccer.com to take on all their team gear for their clients. To be honest, while the Nike deal brings incredible benefits to our club overall, it’s this deal with Soccer West and Soccer.com that will bring the most tangible day-to-day benefits to you as our members. These benefits include:
Need to try some items on? Want to return something you ordered but don’t want to ship it back? As mentioned above, our local Soccer West stores are now part of the Soccer.com family. You will be able to use these stores as extensions of Soccer.com when you need that brick-and-mortar experience!
Going forward, if you need to buy soccer gear, Soccer.com will be the place to go for all your soccer gear. Shopping for your new shoes, Valor gear, and soccer supplies at Soccer.com is part of our commitment and what makes these great partnerships possible.
New Valor Uniforms and Gear
This is one of the hottest questions right now around Covington, Kent, Renton, and Auburn! We are still working on the final design of the kits and gear for the 2019-2020 cycle. There are just a few more details to be finalized. We are excited to share the design, pricing, kits details with you in the coming weeks.
Needless to say, your Valor Soccer leadership team is beyond excited about the opportunities that these partnerships open up. The benefits to the club and our members will be extensive. These deals would not have been possible without the combined powers of our clubs, and we hope it further validates that our club has an amazing future ahead. We’re excited that you’re on this journey with us.
